February is Black History Month

We will celebrate Black History Month with speakers and presentations.

February 12: John Harewood will be our guest speaker on Sunday, February 12. John was born in Barbados. He came to Canada to study at the University of Toronto. Now retired, he is a former professor of classics and an academic adviser in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa. A writer, he was a columnist for the Contrast newspaper. Currently he serves as a trustee of the Errol Barrow Memorial Trust of Canada and is a member of the donors' committee of the Black Canadian Scholarship Fund. He volunteers his service to "In from the Cold", an outreach ministry of Parkdale United Church

February 26: Venerable Linda Hill will be our guest preacher and celebrant at both services. She will focus on Project Anti-Racism in our diocese and on how parishioners and clergy can fully participate in this program. Project Anti-racism was launched in 2021. The intent is to “build our capacity to address issues of equity, diversity and inclusion in our church and specifically take on racism in all its forms, “Bishop Shane said. People will have an opportunity to chat with and to ask questions to the speakers during coffee hour in the church hall. Our choir is working on special music for these celebrations. Everyone is invited, in person or via Zoom.
